GRADINGS OF ACTIVITIES ;
L – Leisure of
which there would be either no trekking OR very light
trekking
and
children
as young as 3 years old could possibly join this activity.
M – Moderate
of which the pace is considerably slow while carrying a day’s OR
not
more than 3 days’ backpack/rucsac over relatively undulating terrain
with
several rest stops in between. Children as young as 5 years old could
possibly
join this activity.
A – Adventurous
and the pace is a mixture of both leisure and brisk trekking while
carrying
at least 4 days’ backpack/rucsac over very undulating terrain. Children
as
young as possibly 12 years old could join this activity.
SA – Super
Adventurous
with the pace extremely
hard and demanding.
Participants are expected to be fit & have had outdoor experience..
But.... most of all - you've
gotta
have a good sense of humour , an
open
mind
& positive attitude to join ANY
of the above activities!

TERMS &
CONDITIONS
OF ACTIVITY PARTICIPATION
1. Health & Fitness requirement
Although we may have
graded our activities, we recommend that
would-be-adventurers
take regular exercise <With the exception of the Graded
L activity>
a few weeks’ before the said activity.
If you suffer regularly
from severe stomach, muscular, chest, heart or bronchial disorders,
are a severe asthmatic
or have high blood pressure, epilweptic fits and pregnant, you are
strongly advised
participating.
2. Trip Cancellations
Should there be too
few people who have booked, we reserve the right to either
cancel any trips OR
demand extra charges to cover logistical costs. In the event
and upon agreement
by both parties, you will either be given a full refund OR will
have to top up the
balance of the minimum group required.
3. Insurance
Personal or Group
Insurance
is not included in the trip price. Every effort is made
to ensure safety of
ALL
participants.
However, we insists that you agree and sign
a letter, indemnifying
the organiser i.e. Utan Bara Adventure Team
or UBAT as
a condition of us
accepting
you on the trip.
4. Route Change
It is possible that
a route change could be necessary. This could be due to
inclement weather,
political restrictions or any unforeseen causes. Route changes
will ALWAYS
be at the discretion of the group expedition leader. No refund will be
available in the event
of any changes of route or itinerary.
5. Postponements or delays
We will not be
responsible
for postponements or delays caused by ALL delayed
departures caused by
participants OR schedule changes at any point of the trips.
6. Costs
Our trips include ALL
items listed in the itinerary alongside each itinerary notes.
Prices are also based
on minimum number of participants travelling together on
each trip.
7. Deposits
ALL deposits
are non-refundable if you withdraw 14 working days’ before
departure unless
advised.
Prices quoted EXCLUDE
;
1. Laundry, postage, personal clothing,
medical expenses, personal travel insurance
and all items of
personal
nature.
2. Air, Water and Land rescue or any other emergency rescue evacuation charges.
3. Expenses incurred as a result of
illness
and/or any other unforeseen situations
and events.
4. Loss incurred by re-routing,
cancellation,
inclement weather, floods, famine,
political disruption,
strikes, riots and other disturbances.

COMMON FAQ!
Q - Do I need to be fit to join
any of the activities?
A -
Fitness is irrelevant – good humour is as the idea is to provide you
lots
of
fresh air,
fun and freedom. You should also have an open mind and a
sense
of
curiosity to see, learn and understand the jungles better from highly
experienced
UBAT
guides.
After all
– the pace is yours ; the worries are left to us!
Q - I'm a single female
participant...is
that OK?
A
- No worries! Respect is ALWAYS spelt in capital letters.
In addition
- you will be treated as a student of jungle trekking
and not
based on gender!
Q - Do I need to provide my own
equipment?
A
- In selected activities, we virtually provide you almost everything
which
you can
refer to in the itinerary information that we will email you.
Q - I am a vegetarian. I am
also
allergic to certain food & medicine.
A
- As long as you inform us in advance of your food disorders, we will
provide
you alternative meals. All the meals that we serve will be fresh
from the
frying pan!
Q - Am I allowed to pray while I
am in the jungles?
A
- Of course you are! You only have to advise us on your religious
beliefs
and
requirements
in advance.
Q - Do we sleep in a tent?
A
- Yes, everyone sleep under one big tent while the guides sleep under
another
smaller tent. You will be provided a sleeping mat to sleep on.
Respect
will be spelt in CAPITAL letters with men and women separated
but under
the same big tent.
Q - If I am carrying a lot of
stuff,
is there a safe place where I can store them
before
I head into the jungles?
A
- Yes, there is and it's as safe as Fort Knox!
Q - I do not speak Malay. Will I
have a problem?
A
- All our guides understand and speak reasonably good english.
Q - I am afraid of snakes,
creepy
crawlies etc etc. Will there be a
problem?
A -
As in every jungle, there will always be creepy crawlies in all forms.
We
will
provide
you the necessary support in overcoming your fears and
possible
misunderstandings.
Q - I will be going into the
Kuala
Lumpur to join an activity. Can you
arrange
for accomodation in the city?
A
- We will try and provide you
FREE accomodationfor max 3 persons
in
Kuala
Lumpur 2 days’ before any activities unless we’re full. In any case, we
will
recommend
you places for you to stay at reasonable prices.
Q - Can I pay by credit card?
A
- No, we haven’t the facility to accept credit card payments but you can
always
make a depository transaction into our Current Account upon
booking
of the trip.
INCENTIVE PARTICIPATION
5% discount off the prices quoted if you
are a regular blood donor and/or an active member of any sporting,
health,
nature, conservation, science and neighbourhood
association/club/society.
Documented proof is required to qualify
for this discount.
