…which in English means WELCOME
and you’re most encouraged to be an Eco-Tourist
whenever the merry men of the Utan
Bara Adventure Team
or UBAT
treks & trails into some of the most
beautiful, peaceful, litter-free, tourist-free
but secret jungle locations of the Peninsular
Malaysia.
“ Adventure
is
a romantic name for trouble…..” is what UBAT
tries
to provide
unsuspecting participants whenever the
going gets tough while joining
any of the treks and trails into the
jungles.
But these very same participants
that complained during the treks will
usually ask for more trekking
adventures, for what the great outdoors
of the jungles offered them,
can NEVER be duplicated by the
artificial environment provided
in their own so called “ comfort
zones ” in the concrete jungles!
After all….“ The
worst day in the jungles is ALWAYS better than
the best day
in office! ” …. The jungles or romantically known as
the “ Rainforests
”
contain unimaginable resources for curing all ills
– physical,
mental,
spiritual and social.
UBAT itself,
in Malay, means medicine which is what the Team wants to
provide the general public with
alternative
forms of healthy and
invigorating foot power-based jungle
activities that caters to an
almost broad spectrum of mankind and
providing
trekkers practical,
participative, factual knowledge and first-hand exposure of this
most endangered green environment on earth.
And UBAT which
stands for Utan Bara Adventure Team
or
the Flaming
Spirits
of the Jungle Adventure Team, itself, consists
of a special breed of higly
passionate individuals – skilled, knowledgeable
and experienced in survival, trekking,
camping, hunting – from ex-special forces,
ex-guerillas, reformed hunters to
travellers
and professionals from almost
all backgrounds as volunteers, whom were
once participants of
UBAT’s
treks and trail!
Since its birth in 1995, UBAT
has seen hundreds of highly satisfied and
responsible participants trekking,
slogging,sweating,
slipping, climbing,
surviving and camping in the jungles
which
has included a very young 3 years
old Belgian girl and a 60 plus Malaysian
gentleman, whilst a red cheeked
6 months old baby that her parents brought
to
the elephant orphanage sanctuary!
The birth of UBAT
also
acted as a nursery to a number of trekkers whom
then, later on,began to start their own
adventure set ups.

Enrolling in UBAT’s
highly popular practical jungle survival course
prepared them the courage to lead their
own groups in jungle locations all
over the Peninsular Malaysia. And most
of the previous participants are
returnees, keen to further pursue other
activities and bringing
with them new participants, too!
Whilst others actively promote jungle
trekking
adventures and tours in
popular destinations with lots of thrills,
frills and usually
litter-ridden, UBAT
does the opposite!
UBAT
actively promote the thrills, skills, practical knowledge and
conservation
in almost remote,
unknown and undeveloped
jungles , known only to the
UBAT instructors
of which most of the marketing of UBAT’s
activities
are done via word of mouth and articles
in the local & foreign
media and of recent, via the Internet.
UBAT’s
popular survival courses are also currently being applied by several
organisations for teambuilding
or staff development purposes which
shows that the great outdoors is actually
the best place to either kill or
keep out the man-made stresses and build
good camaderieship.
Lessons learned from the highly
biodiversified
rainforests
teaches participants how to manage
diversity
in
their own organisations!
The Utan Bara
Adventure Team is lead by its founder and chief
trekker/survival expert known only as
The
BanditLeader who
regularly delegates the trekking &
survival courses to his most senior men
and only leads/teaches groups upon advance
requests from clients.

To know what the jungles mean to The
BanditLeader and his merry men
of UBAT, read
his deep and personal description of this world’s
most endangered environment he loves most…
“……from
the air, the jungle looks like a sea of broccoli and a novice might
be forgiven for
thinking that the underneath is impenetrable. !
Under the treetop
canopy, nature jostles to find a space to catch the
sun’s rays,
producing
a litany of sounds and a library of sights.
Myriads of
insects
help propagate new growth as well as slowly
working to
eradicate
the old.
Damp soil and a
mulch of fallen leavescushion noise but
retain tracks for
those who know how to read them.
Birds and animals
are heard rather than seen.
Navigation is
a
skill that anyone can learn ; map, compass and a retentive
memory, along
with
a cool head, are the main requisites. The direction of
stream flow, a
rise of fall in contours, are normally theonly aids in
featureless
terrains.
But the depth of a stream, the thickness of
the bush, the
flight
of the birds, the age of a track and many other signs
are always there
to be read like a book by the initiated and turned into
advantage when,
to others with senses deadened and mind dulled by a
depressing and
endless similarity, the Jungle imposes
itself as an
environment
which cannot be mastered. "
This
is the jungle – the REAL living jungle
that
is neutral and
too big to be left unexplored.
And your presence here, should you decide
to take up the
offer of escaping into the world’s most
endangered green environment
- is to trek into, camp overnite, feel,
smell, listen,
see and to understand and respect it
better.
If you have made peace with yourself by
acquiring the practical knowledge
that is the antidote against fear of the
jungles, we hope that you will then
go out into the masses to preach and
encourage
others to make
peace with themselves in the Jungles.
May Peace be with You.”

BanditLeader
